May 2020

The world has gone quite topsy-turvy since our last post in early March 2020. Most of us have spent the past 2 months in relative lockdown trying to avoid or spread the SARS-CoV-2 virus which can lead to the COVID-19 disease. Somehow this thing has seemingly split the populace in half along political lines of how to handle such a thing. This isn't the place to opine or debate it, hopefully by the time Dylan and Payton read this blog somewhere in the future it will be very apparent how to deal with, avoid and eradicate this outbreak or anything similar in their futures.

ANYWAYS, we've spent a lot of time together over the past few months. Dad has been working from home most Mondays and Fridays for the past year or two, so it wasn't such a shock to our systems. But, still a pretty big shift in our day to day routine, but hopefully we're at the tail end of this thing, and we can regain some sense of normalcy.

Before we share the latest photo album, here's a little good news/bad news for you. Good News: Payton started pulling herself up to a standing position! Bad News: She immediately took a head first dive out of her crib and ending up fracturing her right fibula. It felt like we failed her, and I guess we did. But a wise man once said "Sh*t happens". And it does. She got out of her cast in a couple weeks and they said she is good to go with no effects on future development. Such a relief!

Enjoy some pictures and stay safe out there :)

March 2020

Payton is 7 months old today, and already has a bottom tooth poking out! It's funny, we thought Dylan was teething for months before we saw one, Payton cut a tooth without us even realizing it!

She is a really happy and chill baby (most of the time). In the past month or so she has really started to interact with us a lot more, and has been eating real people food :). She likes avocado, sweet and mashed potatoes, oatmeal and strawberries a lot right now. Also jalapeno peppers. Just kidding about that last one, just seeing if anybody actually reads these posts.

Dylan is doing really good too. We had a fun party in early February, she's 2 years old already! She is such a good big sister, always willing to share and help her little sis. Dylan gets so excited when Payton coos and caws at us, and then Payton gets geeked up to talk with her sister, they have a great back and forth. As for us adults, Dylan is not exactly speaking the Queen's English by any means, but still saying more and more. It's funny how she'll perfectly pronounce some words, then we get excited, ask her to repeat and she goes back to radio silence. But she let's her hips do the talking as she LOVES to dance, mama and her can cut a rug! I don't know why I don't have a video to share right now, next post I will.

Until then, hope you enjoy the latest photo album. Thanks for reading!

January 2020 Update

Hello World,

We've got a new photo album spanning the couple months since our last update. Both girls are still doing great! Payton rolled over for the first time on her first Christmas, and has started to stand (with some help for balance) for minutes at a time. She has also started sitting upright in her sister's beloved green Bumbo chair, so plenty of pics for the next 6 months will have that familiar sight in it.

Big Sister doesn't mind, because she loves her little sis, and is such a good sharer. She's still not talking much yet, but gets her point across pretty clearly and understands way more than we ever thought a 23 month old could. We're just about officially done with giving her age in months too, starting next month it's years only :) Every week she makes more progress towards talking our ears off, so we'll just let her go at her own pace.

I'm sure there are 1000 other things to mention here, but for now I'll just post this photo album, time is a precious commodity when you've got two little ones!

November 2019

A quick look at the calendar shows me it's been almost 4 months since our last update :( When I started this digital scrapbook for our family and friends, I really did not want it to get lost in the shuffle. The whole idea was to keep posting at least monthly.

But it turns out having two kids under 2 years old takes a toll on your spare time and creativity. Also your sanity, patience, etc. Somehow the Earth has continued to spin since our last post, so I guess we can't get too upset.

It's getting late again already, so I'll keep it brief. Both girls are healthy and happy, Dylan is a great big sister, Payton is super strong, healthy and growing like a weed. Not to say we don't have our challenges. Far from it. But whatever bumps we hit always seem to be outweighed by the moments captured in these photos. Enjoy!
